About Us

M.I.N.D. CF’s mission is to make a measurable impact on illiteracy and innumeracy by bridging the gap between evidence-based academic and clinical approaches to helping people with learning disabilities in reading, writing and math with access to multisensory integration for neurologic development.

We believe that learning disabilities are the result of disconnections within the neural networks necessary for learning and intelligence, and that all individuals deserve to learn to read, write and do math.

of adults in the United States
0 %
as at 2017, had basic or below-basic literacy skills. According to the National Center for Education Statistics (NCES), the National Assessment of Adult Literacy (NAAL)

This alarming statistic underscores how the limited literacy skills within households significantly impact the educational development of  children.

Our Initiatives

We believe that all people can be taught, as the science of Orton-Gillingham, Multisensory Math, and Hemispheric Brain Integration has proven.

We at MIND each have a desire to give back, and a passion for the possible. To love, give, and serve our community is central to who we are, and we are compelled by a desire to do better, now that we know better.

Teacher Trainings

In evidence-based multisensory approaches:
MIND has pre-approved select programs for parent and teacher scholarship grants.

These include training and certifications (when offered) in the following: IMSE, IMSLEC/MSLE, OGA, Lindamood Bell LiPs and Visualizing and Verbalizing Programs and TouchMath, and Toe By Toe materials.

Parent Support services

by educational advocates, and educational legal consultations on
the laws in place to protect students with dyslexia, dysgraphia, dyscalculia and apraxia, and by experienced special education teachers for those parents who educate their dyslexic children at home.

Often, children with a dyslexia or dyscalculia diagnosis fall through the cracks of the U.S. public education system, and MIND CF has made a commitment to educate parents on their children’s rights. This translates to providing grants for educational advocacy and legal consultations with SC attorneys who practice educational law. on

A) ADA, IDEA, and ESSA rights as it pertains to children with learning disabilities rights in
U.S. public education

B) homeschool curriculum development and lesson planning
support for homeschooled students at risk of illiteracy and innumeracy.

Clinical Support & Tools

with board certified developmental functional neurologist specialists for neurological integration, and research-based tools known to help students with dyslexia et al improve working memory and develop improved skills for the dyslexic mind’s learning.
.
It is well documented that the eyes, ears, and neck distinguish the relationship between sensory development and the crucial milestones in a child’s journey toward proficient reading. While an educational Orton Gillingham approach may be the only “treatment for dyslexia”, if we are to truly rewire pathways, we need to know the impact of retained primitive reflexes and other neurological impediments to these milestones that support reading development. .
.
When these pathways do not properly develop, sometimes teachers or parents just don’t notice until a child is expected to read and write. There are brain functions at play that often present underneath or side by side with dyslexia. In these children, it is often necessary to go back to the origin of the developmental arrest and help it to develop. MIND CF will provide grants for clinical support and tools in this area, to address what OG and multisensory math training grants and advocacy cannot.
